Are we seeing your best Trailcam photo's?

Over the last 10 years the use of trailcams to scout for deer potential has become very popular.

Some hunters actually use trailcams to attempt to pattern a certain buck(s) movements at various times of the day. The plan is to intercept the deer during a time that he is up and moving.

Other hunters set the cams up over mineral licks and check out the deer herd in their area that way.

But this really isn’t the question here. Fives years ago it seemed that everyone who had trailcams out was sharing the cam photos with other IW members on the site. Now it seems that some of those members that shared photos before have stopped doing so.

I am sure there are many reason for this and hopefully we can discuss some of those reason in this thread.

So here is the Question:

I share everything!
'cept repetitive and over abundant doe shots.

i guess i dont see why hold out. 99.9% of all pix are inconclusive as to where the shot was taken, and anyone who recogonizes a certian buck, prlly already knows they are there!

I know people are holding out but cant say i see the real risk with sharing....

overly paranoid in my opinion

Overly Paranoid huh? Its almost like blocking out the background of your picture of a fish.

I'm just to lazy to load everything up and post it.

fair enough, guilty as charged!

however, the location on that lake is easily recognizable, and it is public access.......

kinda different than back woods, private ground, BFE Iowa....

but true, i might be paranoid as well.....

;)

Theres people that think they know where you hunt and if they see something good coming from your cameras then next thing you know you have all kinds of company hunting the same farms that you do or around you. One of the best deer I shot I've heard that I killed it on about five different farms now. I'll gladly share harvest photos and any part of the story leading up to it, if I'm lucky enough to actually kill something this year.

With some people it is the product and not the process. :(
I have chased too many people off the land I hunt to think everybody has the same integrity levels I do. :thrwrck:
I have become a bit cynical in my years and am very careful who I tell and what I tell them.

I don't post any cause my $35.00 wildview digital wal-mart special only show you how dark the timber is at night and you might be able to make out a glimmer of an eye to make you think.
Takes good daytime photos if you're interested in seeing does.
My other cam is a 35mm.
Plus I'm usually goofing off at work when I'm on here.

I have definately become more wary, its just like what was said earlier, if you post a big buck pic, and someone knows who you are and then sees you hunting an area, it is easy for them to assume you are hunting that deer and try and horn in on you. Or worse lease it out from under you, spread lies about you to landowner to get you kicked off, etc. Whether the buck you have a pic of is actually on that property or not is irrelavent, someone just has to have the idea that it is. It is less work for some people to screw someone out of a hot property than to do the scouting, and then do the hard work to get a hotspot for themselves. I have actually been pretty lucky in this aspect but have enough good friends and stand up hunters burned to make me more than a little gunshy. Maybe we should be able to post trailcam pics anonomously if we wish. To bad it has to come to that, but it has.

I'm afraid you're right. That's one thing that really gets me angry. I don't understand how you can feel good about yourself if you do stuff like that to another hunter. I post most of my good deer on here, just cuz I know I like it when other guys do the same. It's pretty bad if we have to worry about other IW guys trying to "take our land", but unfortunately, some people use this website, completely for that purpose. I know of a guy like that from where I live. And I know he's already trying to find a deer that I posted earlier this summer. I'm pretty confident he won't find him though! ;)

i show everything but i have hunted these 2 properties for 6 years straight now & am the only one allowed with the exception of my father & uncle.so i don't worry to much.

I share nothing with people around me. I share here but don't blame those that don't.
(ahem,ahem)

I share with a select few...like 3. I share some smaller stuff and interesting type stuff here. I will also share one the jumpers dead.

Yup. my photos the last few years stick with me and maybe 2 other people.... wierd and funny stuff can go up here. Too many Jacka$$' all over.I have had enough harrassing by people and the DNR. This is the #1 target site for them to whip up a story way to easy...It's a shame.
