This is the best hunting site on the net, hands down. What makes it so great is the wide variety of people who share their opinions, experiences, and knowledge with others. With that comes the realization that having so many poeple from so many walks of life you will have a wide variety other other interests, values, and beliefs. What ties us all together is the hunting...right?

If hunting is what we are here for then why should I have to screen my children from the avatars on this site? My wife does daycare and my lunch hour was spent checking this site, but that has now changed. There are only a few users that have innappropriate avatars but they are bad enough that my wife has laid down the law and this site won't be on while our children are around. Why should it be that way?

I have thought about contacting the moderators about the issue but why should they be bothered with it? Use some common sense. I don't care if you support gay rights, use drugs, break the law, or commit hate crimes. Do what you want on your own time but if you hunt, I'd love to talk to you about it. I wouldn't expect to see Marijuana leafs, KKK emblems, or sex acts on the avatars so why should the mostly naked woman avatars be any different? This is a hunting site!!! Show me a photo of a buck you shot, a shed you found, or a trail cam photo, that is what we are here for.

I know that I could use the ignore user option but that doesn't take the photo away and who knows, I might want to hear what you have to say. I could ignore all photos but then I can't see the appropriate ones??

I know this was discussed under a post under a different topic but it aparently did no good. I am politely asking that everyone keep their avatars appropriate so that I can enjoy this site with my children and anyone else who might walk by. I hope I'm not alone on this one!

Ditto from me. I commented about some unwanted avatars and nothing was done. I have been on this site for several years and all the sudden hear comes the smut. I will give it another month if nothing happens I am out and so is my 15 year old son. Hope it doesn't come to that. Some people have to ruin it for others and they know who they are.

I don't recall the discussion of the avatars in another post, but I know what you are talking about and I agree 100 % with you. There are a million other websites out there that have all of that a guy could ever want. Iowawhitetail doesn't need to be one of them.

Maybe they don't have anything worth showing? Too much time downloading the next semi naked chick for their avatar.

Show a little respect for the guys and gals on here that have children around that love to come to this site for all the right reasons.

Nicley said Bowman. I have had the same problem at work. Teaching school I often encourage my students to check out the "Best Whitetail Site", but now wonder about the wisdom in that.

Sure many kids see far worse in other places, but why should it be on a deer hunting site. I agree 100%. Lets all use some common sense and keep this the best site around.

We all obviously have internet access and dont need IW to get our daily dose of well rounded ness. My family isn't around when I am on the site, but obviously some others are and I rely on the quality of the group to help me put the pieces of my own puzzle together. Would hate to have some quality guys run off and lose their experience and expertise.

Bowman, I appreciate your post. Thanks for voicing what I feel. My view is not to censor, but to request decency and restraint in what we post on this site.

I agree with BOWMAN. What's wrong with keeping a hunting website a wholesome enviroment? If you want to see pictures of "other" things , then by all means go to a website that shows you those things. Being respectful of family values is not to much to ask.

I did weigh-in on the other post mentioned and I'm sure I came across in a bad light when I stated, "Amen, keep 'em coming ..." More than anything, my response was directed at Hillwalker's comment about finding a different site to "fill your needs," which I thought was a little inappropriate in and of itself. I apologize for my hasty reply.

I do see your point, Bowman and agree wholeheartedly about not wanting anyone to get the wrong impression about this site - it is the best, afterall. I have a lot of respect for all of you that have families and children who might see such material. I'm here for the hunting and I want to keep it that way, also. Great post and even better explanation of your feelings on this topic, Bowman!

I have to agree with Bowman, alot of us like skin but a deerhunting forum isn't the place for it really. I hope the guys that have the avatars don't think I'm being a prude because I'm far from it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can go to your log in page and shut off the avatars. Might be an easy solution for those offended. I know the guys with slow internet connections are told to do that so it doesn't take so long to download posts. Just something you could do for now. Hope this helps a little.

I also think something should be done about some peoples quotes that are shown after their posts. For example, "Go Hawks". There is no reason to post this type of profanity!

I hate to see this thread go south. A legitimate concern was raised and it looks like there are a lot of us that agree.

Pharmer, sometimes we may forget that the church is made up of people. It is not an entity unto itself. You have a great sense of humor, thanks for just keeping it clean.

My apologies to anyone I have offended if the kids have been traumatized. All in good clean fun as nothing I have posted isn't seen in higher quantity at the local shopping mall. I just wonder where it will stop? How about when the kids from daycare don't want to see blood? What will we do? It all needs to be viewed in perspective.

Well I find it just as defamatory that people suggest someone with a clothed female in their avatar is a porn junkie. I find it just as harassing and obscene that a vocal minority are able to express their values on others. We have alot of housecleaning to do if all are held to the same standard. There is an awful lot of posts joking with racial and ethnic slurs.
Anyway- I fixed at least one of the avatars in question.
You've exercised your voice and done your good deed.

Thanks Bowman and those that share my old "sunday" school values.

Kindly keep it hunting....

I must be turning into an old fogie.

Best Wishes....
