Bedding areas?

I have some open areas and areas I have cut trees out of, and if left they fill up with Rose and Thistles, Black Berries,Thorny crap of all kinds as thick as can be. I have always wondered how this prickly mass could be good deer bedding?

Hard to believe, but they love that stuff and even eat it?? I hate that sticktight, beggers lice crap, that comes in here, but they eat the heck out of it too. I shake my head in august looking at pictures of deer covered in the stuff, like big chia pets.
