Best Video Camera for in the Stand?

Hey guys,
What do you think is the best camera out there for recording hunts. Right now I'm just using a pretty decent 8mm but my dream is leading me toward producing hunting videos. I want something that is small, convenient, maybe waterproof or resistant, quiet, and most of all... can output high quality footage worthy of broadcast or distribution. Should I go digital? Any suggestions? Thanks for any input.

I use a small Canon camcorder up int the tree, it's nothing like what you're looking for though. I know Sony makes some high end camera's, although I don't know about their ability to stay dry in the rain. For a good quality camera I'm guessing you're probably going to spend 2-3 thousand, seems that's what they usually run.

You'll have a hard time finding a "water resistant" or "waterproof" camera... just make sure you protect it with accessories that are available from each mftg. Also, whatever you end up buying, get a clear protective lense ordered for it... that way the lense will not get scratched. I looked into many cameras earlier this year... if you want something for production, look at the Sony DSK-PD170, or the Panasonic AG-DVX100A... but plan on dropping about $3200 for just the camera... add mics, batteries, cases, protective covers, tripods... you're into some pretty heavy jing. If you want to save some $$, and still want a great camera, look at the Canon GL2... nice camera and you should be able to get into it for around $1500 if you're web savvy.
