Better start the emails, phone calls, letters....

Why would anyone need more than ten rounds in a rifle mag? Must be a bad shot.

Besides the "Bad Shot" comment! I will ask also!! Why would you (not counting a guy in a tower!) Need more than a 10 round clip? To tired to reload or what??!!! In Iowa what are you shooting more than 10 rounds at?? I am not trying to be an azz! I think it's a legit question!!!
It's not like you can't buy more clips!!

Prairie dogs, targets, and other stuff. Most .22s hold more than 10. Where do you draw the line?

You probably won't ever need more than 10 rounds, then again, why do we need to make it illegal?

No, and neither is a single shot vs. a 10 round clip. Don't mind the argument on the subject as long as people are subjective and can use some logic with the argument. No matter how you feel about this subject.

R we really going to have this debate on this forum?!?!?! OK..... "why would you ever need more than 10 rounds???" How about this... how about I wake up at night & there's 3 guys in my house & a gun fight starts. How about we get into some military conflict with any of 20+ nations and/or religions that would love to come kill us & you and you want to defend yourself. How about I want any advantage I can against any crook or killer wanting to do harm to my family? Why can't I have "10 rounds" or "3 rounds" or why shouldn't everyone be limited to a bow & arrow. The second amendment was NOT created for hunting. The 2nd amendment was created to defend yourself, your family, your country & the constitution, etc. Let's put on our "REALITY" hats here and tell me what happened with "gun crimes" when we had a clip limit? What do you think would happen with crime, gun crimes, a possible war in this country or any other ramification (statistically) if we limited clip size for law abiding citizens?

Why do you need a gun period? Why limit the amount of rounds that a magazine can hold? For safety of the public or kids? 65% of the gun crimes in America are committed with a handgun. 10% are committed with shotguns, the remainder are "unknown type weapon".

But, with rifles holding MORE than 10 rounds in a magazine, about 1%, Again, 1% of gun crimes in America a year are committed with high capacity magazine rifles.

It's not that anyone really needs more than 10 rounds in a rifle, but having a freedom to do so is what makes America, the place that it is. Plenty of target shooters, varmit hunters, ect have 30 round clips for sporting.

But then again, the 2nd Amendment WAS NOT WRITTEN with sportsmen or hunting in mind. It was written so the average man, or men, could defend themselves from a government. If anyone here thinks the 2nd Amendment has ANYTHING at all do to with hunting, please go back to 6th grade social studies.

If you guys on here do not agree with having magazines bigger than 30 rounds, please, by all means do not buy one. But please do not try and take the right away from me to own one and enjoy one. I don't agree that people should be able to kill more than 1 buck a year, but I don't say a thing because it is legal, and the law allows it.

Why not going back to a society of, if I don't agree with it, that's ok, I won't participate. Instead of a society of, I don't agree with it, it doesn't affect me in any way or form, so lets out law it.

This is the argument that I would make too. Now we're talking about something other than being an outdoorsman. From a hunting standpoint, I can't get there, but I can't argue with your point.

exactly. does anyone think we have the 2nd amendment because of hunting & being sportsman? A lot of folks think that's why we have our 2nd amendment, probably a lot of folks on here. I lived in another country for a while and we're heading down the exact path & argument of where I lived - I'll tell you- 99% of the folks on here won't like the end of this path this country is walking on, I've lived & seen it 1st hand (if anyone on here would like an explanation, I'm happy to explain).

I don't want to make this political but this country has slowy been headed down the socialist road for a while now. Our current president and others in congress like him have just put the foot on the pedal.

This is just another example. The large majority of people are so un informed its mind boggling. Politicians suck, pretty much all of them but I would never vote for any of these extreme left wing crazies.

I'm done, I could go on all night!

I am a law enforcement officer and a hunter. Military style assault weapons have zero sporting purpose. They were designed to expel as many rounds as quickly as possible on a targert. The argument that banning assault firearms is a path to other guns is hogwash. Own your handgun, most people can't hit the broad side of a barn with one, own a shotgun(the best home defense weapon by the way), and have your hunting rifles. Assault weapons are designed to kill people, I use them and I am familiar with them, call them sporting if you want.

Having them for "sporting use" is not the meaning of our rights. These "assault" weapons... I'm not sure what the difference between them & my Ruger 10-22 that carries 50 rounds is or my semi auto deer rifle that can get larger clips to carry 20+ rounds. "assault" rifles are really a name that has a lot to do with the "looks" of a gun, even though there's other "non assault" rifles that do the exact same thing but don't have the look. Military grade arms are fully automatic. These are not fully automatic weapons here. Should we ban these? Are the guns the problem? Should we have a 10 round clip limit where someone just tapes the clips together & can easily flip them anyways?
I have an AK-47, if the gun is the problem, not sure why this gun hasn't done some horrible things in the 15 years I've had it? Could it be the people that are the problem & not the guns?
Here's the bottom line, I do have to look this up & I'm happy to.... What has happened with the murder rate & gun crime rate in the past 20 years? It's gone down. Why would that be? We didn't outlaw these "assault rifles".
