Bobcat Attacks

With the Iowa woods filled with first season shotgun deer hunters on Saturday, apparently one unlucky hunter had his first and unfortunately an unpleasant encounter with the Iowan grown feline. The victim was Paul Imboden of Earlham, Iowa who happened to wander underneath a giant oak tree (that DNR officials guess to be a territory marker for the particular bobcat) and was attacked from above. The bobcat sprung onto the victims face and viciously mauled him for several seconds, he told officials. He left the incident with several deep scratches and lacerations to his eyes and face. Once the victim finally freed himself from the estimated 30 lb. male, he said the cat ran about twenty yards and let out a god awful scream. The victim was then treated by ambulance but did not needed any further attention. Iowa DNR officials are still demonstrating an investigation to see if the feline could cause further harm and needs to be tranquillized and removed to a safer area. The Iowa DNR urges shotgun hunters to be smart out there and do not tempt any animals in the timber that may attack.
