If you have any interest in the history of this countries sad destruction of the Native Americans, and their way of life, this book is a must read! I had seen it talked about on public television and picked up my copy a week later.
Savages and Scoundrels, The untold story of Americas road to empire through Indian territory, By Paul VanDevelder is a must read!!! In my opinion it should be required reading for all high school history classes!
Very well researched and a real eye opener! There's a lot of facts that I had never heard of and atrocities still happening in modern times!

Another good read is "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee", there is a lot of history we can't be very proud of.

"Black Elk Speaks" is another excellent read for those interested in Native American non-fiction.
