You want to re-seed alfalfa? You can't. You have to till it under and plant something else for about 3 years before it can go back into alfalfa. Many articles on this subject. Too lazy to provide you with the exact information you need.

Keef Hat Trick is right u can't overseed or plant alfalfa on alfala. When the roots dye they release a toxin that kills the seeds. If you are planting new alfalfa on on crop ground or crp i would say 18-20 for a good stand.

What would you recommend I do. I have already bought the alfalfa. Should I plant clover or something else this fall and try to do the alfalfa in the spring?
