Built one........

Well, kinda.....

Risto said he would show me how to build a trail cam based on a Sony P41. I picked up the cam off of eBay and he gathered all the other parts. Since our schedules are kind of crazy, we had to settle on trying to finish it tonight. Since we weren't going to have enough time to do the build from start to finish, Tony had done a lot of the case work already. I watched him hack my P41 and I put the u-bolts on the front (about my biggest contribution!).

We did some in house testing and it is working great. I'll truly be able to say I've built a trail cam after I solo on one.

Thanks Tony!!!!!

I wish Risto lived down the road. I'd love to have a buddy help me out on aproject like that!

Get some pics to show us on that thing!

Randy,
The look on your face a couple of times was priceless when it was not working a couple of times and you about shi$ when I said I tore the ribbon. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Can't wait to help with some more. Get the cams out ASAP I want to see what I will be shooting this fall. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Saskguy,
Get the parts ready and lets set up a trip. I will bring Randy and maybe we can do some shed hunting or fishing afterwards.

Iowabowtech,
Thank you for all your help.

Well, I'm such a tight wad penny pincher that the thought of ruining a cam was a devastating scenario. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Saskguy, knowing Tony, he's dead serious. Without blinking an eye, he drove about 2 hours to come help me. I could see throwing spoons for some northerns. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I did forget to tell you how to deactive the GPS tracer chip I put under the foam gasket. I can do that after my first harvest.
Sorry. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Nothing but dinks and scrubs around here, but you are welcome to try. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Looks good. I don't hear much about the homebrews lately and wasn't sure if anyone was doing them anymore. I have a vcam w/ a p41 and love it!

Hey Randy, the home-brew looks great! How is that Covert cam working out for you? Is there any way to mount cable clamps to the Covert for a python cable like you did to your Pelican case?? Any pics from it yet???

I put an image up on that Another new cam thread.

The way the DLC Covert camera is positioned in the case (when you open the front door, the camera guts swing out attached to the front of the case) I don't think you could put u-bolts on it. I'll look at it with a more critical eye next time I'm playing with it as I never thought of adding u-bolts.

Good looking setups!

Whats with the newspaper? I just throw my stuff right on the table top!

My wife was not thrilled with the event in the first place, it was a small appeasement.

The test week is over and the camera passed with flying colors. It was set to 1 minute delay and it took 180 pictures from Sunday to today. Here are a few I liked.
