I hung 2 lifelines last night. I attached them to the tree anywhere from 5-9 feet about the platforms of my stand. It will allow a lot more versitility than just using a treestap and a saftey harness. when i stand up if i slide the prusic knot up the rope, I can easily draw my bow on a hard right shot without having to worry about getting tangled up in my harness. That alone is worth the $30 to me, the potentially saving your life part is just a bonus!
 
Yes-should be above your head. I go about arms length, so the fall is short and the weight transfered much easier should a fall occur.
 
Does anyone make these themselves or have a link to the types of rope you might want to buy to construct these? Any thoughts about making them yourself?
