I have been busy as can be lately with getting seedings and tree plantings done then starting a new job but finally got caught up and use to the new work schedule. This weekend was my weekend off and we went fishing at the family cabin. My daughter enjoys fishing for about 10 minutes then she is bored. I went out early in the morning and found a good brush pile where we could catch some crappies. I brought the rest of the family back out a little before dark and we started fishing. It wasnt 30 seconds into the water when her bobber at the end of her barbie pole went under. I set the hook for her and she started reeling. The drag was being taken so I adjusted it thinking it was set wrong and there was no reason a 7 inch crappie should take drag. Then I saw it in the water and realized it wasnt a 7 inch crappie. I couldnt get my hand in fast enough to grab it. She was happy to catch a big fish but I think her daddy was even happier. Her first crappie and it taped out at 15 1/4 inches.
