Didn't Think He Would Make It

This buck was hit with bow by the neighbor last November high on his right shoulder.. I got pictures of him in early December and he had already shed his antlers. This spring just after the snow had melted I got a picture of him and he was skin and bones. He looked like he wasn't going to make it. He seems to have recovered nicely. Last year I figured he was 3 years old with a rack almost identical to what he has now. I suppose due to the injury and his condition he was in he did OK to get his headgear where it is at.

They are tough animals. Cool history. Check out my post titled 'the story of Jack Hammer continues'....it is somewhat similar in terms of a buck that was wounded that I have photos of.
 
you're right, imo, that since he had to pack the pounds back on the "energy" went into sustaining life before it did to building up his rack.

They are troopers, and you can bet he's just that much wiser now
