Just wondering what everyone's experience with digital trail cams (I have a vcam w/ a D380) and cold weather. Are they ok to leave out when the temps drop below zero??
The 380's are fine. I had one out last year in -10 deg weather. Mine seemed to stop working around -5. Now the new sony's, well this is the first year for them, my guess is that they will be fine.
I believe they will be fine, but they wont last long due to massive power usage. In the extreme cold, the batteries will not last as long as they did in the summer. This is true of all camera systems.
My stealth cam didn't work last year in the cold. I put it out where I feed deer in the backyard and it froze up. Mind you it was -30, hardly anything works then, especially bare fingers!
