Heard from a friend about a decade ago that he was watching a deer drive in southern Iowa and a huge buck got down on his knees behind a large cedar as the brush beaters approached. The closest walker was 30-40 yards away and as he passed the buck shuffled along the backside of the cedar on his knees always keeping the tree between him and the hunter. Can't verify if he was telling the truth but always enjoyed the scene in my head.
