Well trying to post another pic here but i keep getting these red x's. So i will just give you the story.

Headed down to IL on the 8th and hunted public ground hard for about 4 days. Had many encounters with shooters, but they just seemed to know where the line was between private and public and all of these deer pretty much were tone deaf to any sort of calling that I attempted to use to coherse them across the line.

Every day i would have 30 plus deer with usaully 3 140+ bucks enter a picked bean field around 1:30. They were eduacated to say the least as they never ventured far from the middle of the field. Someone coined the term "HORN PORN" well, that is what it was. After 4 days of "you can look but you can't touch" hunting, i decided that i better try my luck on some private ground that became available to me Thursday to hunt.
After a quick look at a topo from terraserver, I found an area that I
liked for thursday that was situated B?W what i thouhgt would be three doe bedding area's.
I was to my tree and set by 5AM thurs morning and as i pulled my bow up "wham" the string came of the cam

.

Hit a pro shop finally on thursday, and got a makeshift setup completed.

Friday morning found me back in the same tree, and at 830 i spotted some movement on top of the ridge and in a matter of 10 seconds i had to draw access the buck and shoot through my 12 inch lane. Well, theshot went true at 35 yards and the Jakhammer put him down in about 40 yards. Sat was my last day to hunt IL, so i was tickled to be able to take this guy with such short time on that given farm.

Still have my MN tag left and hopefully late season will bring snow and more snow. For now its orange-army time here in MN.
Best of luck to every one still after the prize!

PS LIMB- I love the hat!
This guy wont score much due to busted tines and lack of great length, but he was a great deer with a 20 inch spread and pretty decent mass, no to mention he dressed at just shy of 200lbs.

way to go DOR, what public ground did you hunt? And I gotta tell you that second picture is the best Ive ever seen. Love that rub and the pose.
