Fall Trout Stockings Continue November 5

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will continue its fall trout stocking Nov. 5 with a release of about 1,100 rainbow trout at 10:30 a.m., in Discovery Park, Muscatine. Then at 1 p.m., about 1,200 rainbow trout will be released at Wilson Lake, Fort Madison.

The next scheduled trout stocking is planned for Nov. 18, at noon in Ada Hayden, in Ames.

These stockings are part of the DNR’s cool weather trout program that brings trout to areas of the state that cannot support them during the summer months.

Anglers will need to have a valid fishing license and pay the trout fee to fish for or possess trout. The daily limit is five trout per licensed angler with a possession limit of 10.

Children age 15 or younger can fish for trout with a properly licensed adult, but they must limit their catch to one daily limit. The child can purchase a trout fee which will allow them to catch their own limit.
