False morels

A buddy and I walked MANY MILES yesterday in the DSM saylorville area and all we found (besides ticks) were a TON of false morels. I mean a TON- does anyone know- is there a correlation between false and actual morels- will morels come later? Or abandon that area?

Is it edible?? A buddy of mine found some of those, someone said it was a snowbank false morel or gabled false morel??
