Fertilizer:

I just planted a mixed clover stand on an acre and a half of clay type, ground. It has been mostly untouched field for yrs. How much natural fertility is in that ground. How much fert, and when do I need to apply? It is hard to find a 0-Nitrogen fertilizer from the coops and elevators around, I've tried in the past. Thanks!

Soil test, soil test, soil test.....

If you don't want to know what is best, you can always put 250 pounds/acre of 6-24-24 or 6-28-28 on and just wing it.

Can't add much to that advice except to give you a link to a 10 dollar soil test.

The clover will grow of course but if you want it to thrive...feed it.

Little nitrogen won't hurt anything, clover will be more then happy to soak it up.
