Okay, so this might be the year you bag your bird that has four beards, or has 1 7/8 spurs, or your kid shot it. Maybe it just was a great hunt, and you want to get the whole bird mounted. Here are a few field care tips.

Do not step on the head.

Do not wring the birds neck.

Pick up any feathers on the ground.

Carry the bird carefully by the feet.

Keep the bird out of direct sunlight.

Keep the bird clean and dry.

It is important that the bird cools down as soon as possible.

Once the bird has cooled down, place in a cotton or mesh bag.(pillow case)

Try to get the bird to the taxidermist the same day.

If you cant get to the taxidermist.
Place the bird in two plastic bags, remove air, seal tight and freeze.

If it is a very warm day, it is important to get the bird to the taxidermist, refrigerator,or freezer as soon as possible.

Like I tell people, "Would you buy a package of T-bones,let them ride in the back of your truck for a few warm sunny days, and then eat them?"

Be prepared to pay $300 to $500 for a turkey mount. Ask for the real head to be used, (freeze dried).
