Hey everyone. I just went out on a farmpond here in SE iowa yesterday with about 6 inches of ice. It was a windy day and overcast. All i caught were little gills and crappies, same as the last time i icefished it 2 years ago. Mainly using waxies and ice fishing jigs. Also tried some minnows.
When you fish it in the summer you catch the bigger fish. Keepers. But in the winter all i get are little ones. Whats the deal? It's pretty shallow, about 5 feet in the middle with the edges dredged out to maybe 8 feet a couple years ago. I was trying the deeper water of course.
I know the bigger ones are in there, just can't catch them in the winter. Any ideas?
