ok, tuesday i took my mother out fishing on the lake in the boat, we'd been out about an hour and moved to a new spot and had only been there about 5 minutes when all of the sudden there were boils all around us and fish jumping out of the water, dozens of them, covered an area about 20X20 ft. I happened for a good 20 seconds. This happend over the next 30 minutes several more times. Have you ever seen this? I couldn't tell what kind of fish these were, they were smaller in size. My guess is either 1. a school of smaller fish was spooked by a predator, 2. These fish were feeding on something at the surface?, 3. These fish were mating or something. Any ideas?

Depending on what kind of fish are in the lake, I would guess they were white bass, stripers or wipers chasing schools of small shad. Throw a topwater lure in the middle and see what happens. It is a blast when you can catch them on top.

Sounds like white bass/wipers to me too. Throw a white twisty tail jig "below" the school of baitfish and hold on to your pole!
