Food plots

Hey guys and gals,

First time poster. And I am going to be planting my first food plot this spring. What I have going for me is the land is 40 acres of solid timer with two different open spaces. The first one is in a basin and has a creek running through it. And the second one is a 30 yard by 300 yard grassy path. The first has a bunch of downed trees and some grasses in it. What is the best way to go about planting these. I have never done it before. Thanks for the help guys.

Mike

1st thing is clear the downed trees and kill off the grasses. Clover is always good, but needs to be mowed/maintained. You cant beat the brassicas and fall rye mix. The best thing you can do is start reading Dbltree's food plot threads. Everything you want to know will be there. Timing is everything though and pray for rain.
