Today I was informed by Brian Herrick, Vice-President of Savage Arms, that due to the continued demand for their 10ML-II as expressed by their distributors, Savage Arms will continue 10ML-II production for 2012. This is the 12th consecutive year of production for the Savage 10ML series. As in 2011, 4140 Chrome-Moly models are being offered. There are no current plans to offer stainless. There is a price increase over 2011 of three percent. 4140 Chrome Moly carbon steel is the same material as used in Savage Arms centerfires. As the Savage 10ML-II is designed to run on clean, essentially non-corrosive smokeless powder (as precisely listed in the factory owner's manual) stainless steel is of no great benefit.
Savage Arms encourages their distributors and dealers to place one order for delivery this year. Production is scheduled for June, 2012, and August, 2012. I'll be accepting orders through the end of January, 2012 only.
I'm personally delighted that the “World's Greatest Muzzleloader” continues its epic run. The 10ML-II is the only mass-produced muzzleloader ever made that is built like a real rifle, the Savage way: with pillar bedding, the Accu-Trigger, and a recoil lug . . . just like the finest bolt-action rifles. All made from certified materials, hand-straighted barrels, and all 100% proof-fired and function-fired before they leave the Westfield, Mass., factory. "
I do not think they are going to make SS guns anytime soon. BTW this happens to be my gun and is priced high but I think it would sell for more on Gunbroker. It is a shooter and I would keep it but I have a custom 45 Encore that shoots lights out.
