This guy isn't a huge deer- but to me he is still young- do you guys think he could blow up in a year or two with that character??? he is definitely on the "do not shoot list" this year- but really hoping he can make it to next year:) thoughts???

Agreed, very nice buck. I'm absolutely no expert, but how old do you think he is? With the inward-bowed front legs, and the way his head/face looks those seem to me to be indicators of some age. I'd be very interested to read what others think.

Always hard to say anything for sure on aging older bucks IMO, especially with just one sort of grainy photo to work with. But I think I am looking at an older buck, not a younger one, in that photo.

Those are some pretty stout G1's and if he really is a young buck then yes, I would wait at least another year because he could be a true BOAL next year. But having said that, I am not sure he would get a pass this year if he came by me. Good problem to have. :)

maybe this would help- I had the camera a little too low and had a picture of his antlers perfectly cut off- just the face and body-

I will agree with the others. His face doesn't say young to me. But without at least one picture from the side it's really hard to say for sure. Sweet brows and a cool deer!

Your last photo almost makes him look like a different deer. It subtracted at least one year from what I was thinking.

Front on pics are really hard to age IMO.

Looks to have a little sway to his back and legs do not appear to be that long. I'd call him a possible 4 year old without any degree of certainty :D
