Just leaving it like that, which is just more my style! Never cared much for the open mouth and felt backing personally? It matches my decor better...

Congrats on first bear. If you don't mind me asking, how muck was it for just tanning the hide.

I took it to my favorite taxidermist, Columbia Taxidermy Studio, who isn't the cheapest around, but his work is worth the extra!! I left the pads and claws on which adds to the cost. It was $300 total. I did have him pull the claws from one front paw for a necklace.

He also has my antelope and rifle kill Mo deer for shoulder mounts...

However, I'm doing around 20 euro mounts for him with my beetles, so he'll owe me in the end lol!!!
