Very early for shed velvet. While the photo looks like it for both bucks, I am going to say it is just the hazy lighting giving the appearance of no velvet.
I'm guessing it's just the pic. Their velvet is starting to get tight now in most of my pics, but I've never seen one shed this early. Not to say it's impossible.
At first i thought hard horn....but im guessing its the white background
thats throwing it off. The one one the right side looks to be as well.
Be cool if you caught another one of him in the next cpl days to confirm.

I'm guessing the lighting is deceiving, though I found a large freshly opened scrape on a walk last Saturday (I do know of two scrapes that get used year around, though).
