Fish Kill Investigated in Hardin County

DES MOINES - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources investigated a fish kill in the South Fork of the Iowa River, near Logsdon Park in Hardin County, on Tuesday.
Water samples collected from the stream showed normal levels of ammonia, pH and oxygen were present. There is no evidence of pollution. The cause of the fish kill is unknown. Fisheries staff plan to visit the area Wednesday to assess the extent of the kill.
The affected stream is 6-1/2 miles west of Eldora, and in the same area where a severe hail and wind storm came through on Sunday.
