IN TOWN BOW HUNTING MAY END IF WE DON'T VOICE OUR OPINION BEFORE AUGUST 14TH 2007.
Please voice your opinion at: http://www.cedar-rapids.org click on the deer population control link
This website will be active august 1st-august 14th 2007

FYI: There is a "Deer Task Force" website:
http://www.care-ia.org/dtfalert.html that it trying to BAN in town bow hunting and they are trying to get as many people they can to write in to the city to ban it.
WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION TOO! IF WE DON'T STATE OUR OPINIONS THE CITY WON'T KNOW!

Wow. I just read the letter in the second link. Talk about clueless. I, or better put, my wife, has planted all kinds of plants that are supposed to be deer proof. They aren't. Unless you only wanna plant Marigolds deer are gonna pretty much eat it. Not to mention I should slow down to avoid hitting deer with my vehicle. If I'm goin 35mph and a deer is running full out 90 degrees to my direction of travel, how much time do I have to react from the time it comes into my head lights? Slowin down may help, but it ain't the answer either.

I will write a letter. Problem is, as you all know, I'm very long winded so I don't know if I can get it said in 500 words or less.

I would like to see the study that shows that deer populations self regulate every ten years.

It looks like the same vague "facts" that every anti-hunting groups uses in every argument.

Of course paying a group hundreds of thousands to shoot deer isn't fiscally responsible. That's why CR and other cities have hunters pay them.

Good Luck to those in Cedar Rapids. I hope you put these douchebags in their place.

I will get something put together and sent in as well!!
Who are these people???

turtL: Ames still does have urban hunting but it is too regulated thus not getting as much participation. Also there was much confusion. I am on the deer task force for Ames. By the way Ames is having an open public forum
Aug 1 at the Ames public library from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This is the time to let your voice be heard.
