An Act relating to the number of bobcats that may be harvested and including penalties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

Section 1. Section 481A.48, Code 2016, is amended by adding the following new subsection:
NEW SUBSECTION. 6. EXPLANATION
The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
This bill requires the natural resource commission to adopt rules, in accordance with sound fish and wildlife management principles, that allow the taking of up to two bobcats each year in designated areas. Bobcats may be taken by a person with a valid fur harvester license and who has paid the wildlife habitat fee or who is otherwise qualified to hunt or trap without a license, such as a landowner or tenant.
Currently, rules adopted by the natural resource commission allow the taking of only one bobcat per year in designated areas.
Violations of the bill’s provisions are punishable with a scheduled fine of $100.
