It’s not April Fools….I’m happy to announce that HF 2657 is dead in the water. After hearing much opposition, including speeches from several of us at the ISC, the subcommittee moved unanimously to kill the bill as it is written.
We were thanked by a Republican House staffer afterwards saying “Look what happens when people engage and show up!”

Looks like the squeaky wheel was greased ! Good job guys ! I wish people in my state ( Missouri) would wake up !

This bill has been tabled (basically killed). A great result today that was honestly expected to go the other route. All voting members also expressed sentiment that even with other revisions they don't see a way that anything close to this could pass with the concerns that they heard. Both in the subcommittee meeting today as well as all your emails and calls.

Stuck in Montana. Sub committee meeting tomorrow if any one can make it and have a common sense short dialogue on this why it can’t pass. Happy to help & make this really easy. Folks showing up is HUGE & CRITICAL!!!! Lemme know if anyone can make it.
NOON- capital
Do these sub committees just pop up on short notice usually ? I would have liked to go to Capitol but Iowa whitetail forum is the only place I ever hear about this stuff.
Thanks.

Thanks to all that helped stymie this...for now. If history is a guide, they will be back. Due to "things" I was not able to get to DM today, but I sincerely appreciate the great effort from a variety of people that "get it". Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

As frustrating as these situations are its good to know there are still people that listen and "get it"

Thanks to all those who attended.

It does seem this latest thrust "popped up" pretty sudden like. I wonder if the self-serving folks behind it caused it to be that way...hmmm. Surprise attack.

sometimes they are planned well in advance. And often times they can be a late schedule with zero upfront warning. Another reason its great to have groups of people that stay on top of this. Phil (ISC lobbyist) does a fantastic job of updating the board members weekly on what is happening, being scheduled and how things are looking from a results standpoint.

“They” might be back but i seriously doubt she will be the one pushing it.
Thanks for all the support everyone.

I didn't get to make it but from what I heard she had her tail tucked on this one. Such a horrible piece of legislation.
This is the only language they understand … I assure u!!! U don’t slow it, silently stop it at this point…. You crush it & remind them that there’s consequences when u sell out YOUR VOTERS. She absolutely deserved to leave that room in embarrassment!!!! I told her this was coming in some back & fourth…. She went forward anyways. That blatant disregard for your own voters is the $hit all us citizens are tired of…. R or D, left or right….. doesn’t matter- it’s sell out political HACKS vs those willing to do the right thing & properly represent their districts. I truly believe & hope they continue to learn that selling out has consequences. I also truly believe that those that do this, on the right or left- are voted out of office!!!!

Well done guys. Congrats on a decisive win!!!!!!

If you guys have literally 60+ seconds …. Send a follow up thank you to those same legislators who scrapped this. It was destroyed in that room by YOU and all the emails before it. Usually all these folks get is nasty-grams or negative type of feedback. It seriously goes a long way to send some that thank them for doing the right thing. …. It should be expected that they just automatically do that but…. Often they don’t so…. Please fire off an email if able & stuff like the appreciation for looking out for voters first vs folks who don’t live here. Using the limited capital for right reasons. Maybe it’s a reminder or ask for them to refocus on some bills that actually help the existing issues we have now. Whatever …. A Thank u email with reasoning for doing the right thing is unique in this world & will help if you are able.

Our comments and feedback is the only reason this was tabled/killed. It was moving forward up until the emails, calls and subcommittee in person talks and they changed their mind based on that information. They heard their constituents......and listened.
Which is great ! My point being you have a legislature that listens to your concerns and feedback. This is not the case in other states like Minnesota & Illinois …. Hint Hint !!! Very important to keep the House/Senate & Governor (RED).

Zero chance any Blue legislators would listen to any feedback in Minnesota.
