Emails at bottom & I copied & pasted email I just got.
I want to add:
The amount of $ ready to flow in to this state if this changes is staggering. I literally know double digit amount of guys ready to sell their farms in xyz state & spend 1, 5, 20 million dollars in iowa is mind boggling. BILLIONS would flood in here to buy- not millions… BILLIONS. Mark my words- if this happened… ground would be $15k overnight. Yes- it would. It would all be bought up by NR’s. I personally think it would peak around $20k. (Buffalo co wi is about 14-15k right now for “good stuff”). Ground would be segmented up with high prices. Residents would have no where to go if u didn’t own land. Most residents dreams of owning land would be gone. Public would be flooded & destroyed. New farmers would not be able to buy Mediocre ground to start. Deer hunting in the segmented areas would go to crap but admittedly- the large farms would be great. Kids, everyday guy and our massive $ deer hunting economy for residents would be shattered. These politicians have no clue how disastrous this would be to their own voters, residents & citizens of iowa. Why they are taking up bills to help folks who don’t vote here is perplexing. These same folks have never written a bill to help resident hunters as well. Bizarre. Please write in folks. Get everyone u know to write in. Smallest deer herd in Midwest, least amount of habitat & our residents need relief for access issues- not a gut punch & kicked to the curb. Get going guys!!!
“Yesterday at the Capital, amendments were passed around to HF 2657 that would allocate HALF of the NR Buck tags in the drawing, to a special drawing only for Non-Residents who:
1. Filed an filed an income tax return in Iowa
OR
2. Own 160 acres or more of contiguous land.
If this passes 2 things will happen.
First, the draw wait for any Non-Resident that doesn't meet those requirements will immediately double. If they wanted to archery hunt in certain areas of the state, the wait would go to 12 years overnight.
Second, land prices would skyrocket. The demand for land from Non-Residents would flood in, and residents would be priced out on all recreational or mixed-use properties.
This Amendment takes hunting in Iowa and would turn it into a rich man's sport overnight. Also, anyone that has been building preference points in order to come here will now be greeted with an even further extension of that wait time.
Higher land prices, and longer waits for any NR that can't afford to buy land. If you believe that Iowa's resources are NOT for sale to the highest bidder, please tell these folks you would like them to
VOTE NO on HF 2657.”
