We were proud to get to share some knowledge just a few weeks ago on hinge cutting with The Management Advantage. So much emphasis is put on food plots. They take a ton of time, preparation, and money to be successful. Don't get me wrong, they have their part and we plant them, but there are also cheaper ways to improve your property for deer. We took a mature stand of oaks and created 2 acres of hinge cuts on a farm in Illinois. This will provide more browse for deer and allow the sun to hit the floor and new plants will emerge. All it took was a little elbow grease, a chainsaw, and some fuel. It's a habitat practice that many forget about, yet it's very beneficial and CHEAP!
