How early to plant rye mix

I know the rye mix is recommended to plant the end of august/1st of September, but what's the earliest any of you would, or have, put it in? My deer hit it hard from the start and it looks like a good chance for moisture until aug. 15-16th, then real dry again. I am tempted to get some in this week. Better to get it started early than let the seed sit in the dirt until mid September?? Sure feels like September out.

I just planted some sweet spot this week. I always felt I planted it too late Labor Day weekend

Don't know where you are but here around the DesMoines,Boone,Ames area is as dry as it gets now. Inch of rain in last 6 wks. Small chances Tues night, then dry as far out as they can forecast.
