It is never too late. You can just run out of rain if you plant in june or july or august and you fight more weeds in the SPring and summer but you can plant it anytime. I always prefer frost seeding or late summer planting myself.
^^^ Correct! I plant clover whenever I have a bare patch of dirt that doesn't already have something else designated to go in the spot. The sooner the better to advantage spring rains. Anytime is OK, just some better than others.
