Iowa CWD Update

DES MOINES (AP) — An agreement has been reached to hunt all 150 deer and elk at a hunting preserve in southern Iowa where a deer tested positive in July for chronic wasting disease.
The Department of Natural Resources says the Pine Ridge Hunting Lodge in Davis County can conduct hunts previously scheduled in September to Dec. 25. But only clean antlers and the hide will be allowed to leave, and only after samples are collected.
The Davis County deer was the first case of the neurological disease verified in Iowa. Five deer at a breeding center in southwest Iowa have since tested positive. Three of those deer and the Davis County deer were traced to a breeding center in Cerro Gordo County, where another deer tested positive. Both breeding centers are now quarantined.

I agree... shoot them all now! I don't understand what the holdup is??? I don't care what kinda money the deer farms are gonna lose. Screw them! Irresponsible management. The only reason they're waiting until December is so they can still muster a couple more high-dollar canned hunts before they're shut down for good. Every person running a deer farm should understand the implications of what they get themselves involved with.

Then, go find out where the farm in Cerro Gordo County got their deer and shoot those deer. These bastards are gonna ruin it for all of us if the disease crosses one of those fences.

Read the reports, 2 fences will not stop it. Mice and voles pick it up then carry it beyond the fence. If they can get it why wouldn't it eventually mutate into a form that humans or cattle get.

There seems to be enough evidence all ready, that has happened.
