As Expected <ST1:pIowa Farm Bureau Lobby Branstad To Not Reduce The Deer Quota!
<O:p</O:p

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) recently sent a letter to Governor Branstad asking for him to reject a DNR proposal to reduce the upcoming deer license quota and to stabilize the herd.
<O:p</O:p

The Iowa DNR has proposed a reduction of nearly 26,000 antlerless deer licenses in 20 eastern <ST1:pIowa counties where deer numbers have been stabilized to where the DNR wanted them to be. In conjunction with the DNR the Natural Resources Commission, which oversees the DNR’s hunting programs, supported the proposal based on harvest data, hunter surveys and comments from hunters at public meetings. The overall objective of the antlerless tags was to stabilize the deer herd, not decimate it…much to the chagrin of the IFBF.
<O:p</O:p

IFBF’s largest argument is that the DNR hasn’t surveyed <ST1:pIowa farmers and the public to see how they feel about crop damage and vehicle deer accidents, rather the DNR concentrated on surveying the hunter’s point of view.
<O:p</O:p

Honestly, I believe the IFBF is throwing up a filibuster move here. Lets face it they will never be satisfied until the deer harvest numbers meet “THEIR” requirements. They could care less about what the hunters of <ST1:pIowa think. So what they are doing is trying a stall tactic to get the DNR to run more surveys and gather more information. This is the best way for them to keep the harvest numbers the same. They want the Governor to order the DNR to run more farmer and public surveys and drag this thing out another year. When next year comes it will be the same stall tactics with a different reasoning.

There is no winning with the IFBF, they will not stop until they are satisfied and who knows when that will be. Its time to take stand! If you want <ST1:pIowa</ST1:p to continue to be a premier deer hunting state please contact your local politicians and the Governor himself and voice your opinions. We sportsmen need to unite and put a stop to the IFBF’s stall tactics!

FB is more worried about the insurance side of their corporation, not the farmers crops. Them and State Farm have tried through the legislature to wipeout the MDC's funding and ability to set game regulations in MO for as long as I can remember. All this deer confinement legislation being looked at in many states is being driven by FB, if they can't get the laws relaxed to shoot em they'll push to designate em livestock and go through the backdoor. To them CWD is a good thing in the wild herds cause the regulating bodies wipe em out to try and stem the problem.
