Is it even worth trying for a late season BUCK?

I have a Late season Muzzy tag my schedule just cleared where I could get out. I am concerned about shed bucks, half shed, losing antlers after being shot etc. Is it even worth trying for a nice buck or should stay after the Geese?

Geese in the morning and get after the bucks in the afternoon. They are just starting to come out of hiding...

I know a gentleman that rattled in 2 bucks, one of them a booner last weekend.

I agree with Limb that the bucks are maybe getting over the warfare known as shotgun season. I've seen many bucks the last 5 days carrying full head gear (only a couple of shooters, but not somewhere I could get at them). I wouldn't drag them by the antlers and they might pop one off on a death run, but why not give it a try? Taxidermists can re-attach them and the only problem is trying to get them in the "books", not something I'm too concerned with. YMMV.

No way am I giving up a chace at a booner for a few sky carp, I mean I love to goose hunt but any chance a buck can still go down I am out there, I am heading to IL next week with a bow to try and finish off the year.

As far as shed bucks, I bet it depends on what area you are hunting, I saw three shooters tonight on my drive home, 2 by state ground one on private and the 2 by stand ground well, lets just say they weren't small. As far as shed bucks, a few might have dropped but only the hurt and heavily pressured. I shot a buck on Weds and dragged him out by the horns for over a mile, no harm done. The weather looks like it might turn in your favor to see a big boy tomorrow afternoon.

I saw alot of bucks last week and even missed a dandy (ouch). Saw one of the best fights I've ever seen. I'd keep on keepin on....

If I still had a tag I would be out there every chance I could.I would be hunting in the timber more right now,I would doubt that the bigger buck's are coming out into the field's much before dark unless your hunting a piece of private ground that has not been pressured.
Keep at it and good luck.

I've been hunting deer in the morning until about 9, then headin' to the goose field by 9:30 (the geese are lazy this time of year) and somedays I'm eating lunch by noon with a limit of honkers. Head back out deer hunting at around 3.

My wife loves it!
