Killing mulberry trees

I have a some mulberry trees growing up in some spruce trees. Within a foot of the spruce trunks. I was going to cut and carefully treat the cut stump with herbicide. Any idea on what herbicide? I thought about a 50% glyphosate. I am worried about translocation. I really don't want to lose 20 year old spruce trees!
Thanks in advance!

With cut stump herbicide treatment the only concern would be if the roots are inter-grown. You have no way to tell. Maybe cut and treat during winter might help reduce chance.
50% glyphosate 50% water.

I have cut and killed mulberries under conifers and then had some of the conifers die off. I can't be sure that I did, or did not cause it, but I suspect that I did. Following that...I only cut them out now, which sometimes means you have to do it again in a year. But I don't want to risk killing the spruces.
