Last night was the 2nd time in a week that I have noticed large amount of what appears to be dripping blood in the snow next to a trail. Ground was too soft and it didn't appear to be spraying bood so I don't think it's a cut hoof, and I don't think a buck will bleed that much after shedding. I asked a friend what he thought it could be, and he said he's seen some bucks (antlered & shed) chasing young fawns around the last few weeks. Is it possible that there are so many does that these fawn keep coming in heat?
This brings me to another story, I checked a favorite shed spot behind a friends house in the city and found a dead fawn Monday. She was 35-40lbs tops! No bigger that my shorthairs. Are these little dog sized fawns a result of breeding so late?
