Is it legal to track a wounded Tom with a hunting dog? I know it has been discussed before, but I can't find the thread.

Not idea... if it's on public ground, then definately no because dogs aren't allowed on public ground until sometime in July I believe

I don't believe you can legally use a dog to track anything in Iowa as far as recovering wounded game. Running coyotes/fox/coon/rabbits/squirrels however is legal.

"Turkey hunting" with dogs is legal during fall season. Do not know about spring. If I thought it might help recover a wounded bird, and I was on private ground, I would likely leave my weapon in the car and take my dog for a "walk" on a beautiful spring day.

no law against taking the dog for a stroll. leash him up and go for a walk
