A few weeks ago I posted a picture on here asking whether I needed to take this buck out or not. He is a 6-8 yr old buck as I have pictures of him from a few years back. The one posted here has the wrong date.
Opening morning I sat in a buddies blind I let him put on our ground. Had a 150 class 10 point. I went to pull back my bow and my arm hit the other side of the blind. Needless to say I never shot that buck and I didn't spook him either. As soon as I left that blind I ran up to our country store and bought myself a tree stand for that area. Went back to the timber and set it up.
This morning it frosted once again. Was around 34 when I got to the stand. First hour had 13 does come by, all at once. It was one of them moments when you didn't even want to blink because you just knew you were going to get busted sooner or later. Surprisingly enough that never happened.
Around 9am I could see nothing by legs walking to me. Before I knew it the buck walked out. At first I wasn't going to shoot till i realized what buck it was. As he was walking straight to me he came across my path I took to the stand. I already had my bow at full draw when he realized that something was up with the new smell so I let the arrow fly. I have taken many spine shots but for some reason this time I completely screwed it up and took out the right lung then went through all the intestines and out through the belly.
I was pretty lucky and he only ran about a hundred yards. I don't think I have ever been this excited to shoot a buck. Just because I have trail camera photo's of this buck from this year and also from 3 years ago. Makes a good ending to wicked buck.
The mass on this buck is incredible. Has 14 scoreable points, however I am no good at scoring. I would have to say he is going to top out right around 135.
im not sure how this happens but he has two holes in his rack.
he isn't a monster but I would rather take a very old buck than a 3.5 yr old 150 class buck.
