Merriams turkey

I am already looking ahead to the spring 2018 turkey season. We want go to WY and stick a big ole white tipped Merriams turkey. We would like to hunt something on the east boarder of WY. That way if we tag out quickly, we could hunt SD also! Just starting to look so any info would be helpful. THANKS

Unless you score some private land access you will likely be hunting the Black Hills National Forest in both states. Public ground on the SD side at least gets a fair amount of pressure. From what I hear there seem to be good numbers of birds this year. Unless they've changed in the last year or two, the SD Black Hills license does not go through a draw but must be ordered out of Pierre and not available over the counter if that's any help to your planning.
