Muzzel Loader Powder

Maybe i'm being to technical or reading to many books , but i have a question for seasoned muzzel loader users- pyrodex pellets on the front of the box says 50 grains by VOLUME when i weighed a pellet it weighed 39 grains - volume is not the same as weight - i also bought a can of 777 should i weigh the loads on a scale and use 100 grains by weight-
or measure the powder by volume ???

Set your powder measurer on the grains you want and load it. If you are using pellets, 50 grains by volume means it's equal to 50 grains of black powder. Load all black powder forgeries, er I mean substitutes by volume.
