Well, my Dad is is now two birds in two years. This one is slightly bigger that last spring's. 22 lbs., 10" beard, 1" spurs, 6:20 a.m. today. We have turkey hunted for 4 years now. He had never taken a turkey until last year (only deer hunted), and now again this year. I'm still without one (also only deer hunted), but I get to try again in 2 weeks (two tags), so I will keep at it. I had a jake at 50 yards that did NOT like my decoys, and kept out in the field, then went on his way, and then a tom at 20-30 yards, but out of view over a crest of a ridge covered in multiflora rose and gooseberry that I was NOT going to belly crawl through, and I don't think he wanted too either very bad to see the hen (me) on the other side. I think he probably made the smart move (I make an ugly hen).
