Nebraska Merriam Advice

I have recently become addicted to turkey hunting with my bow in the last few years and fortunately have good success. Now I am really wanting to take a Merriam with my bow. I have seen many advertisements for outfitted hunts and was wondering if a do it yourself hunt is that hard to pull off? I'm not exactly feeling financially overblessed at this time but would love to bag one of these birds while I am still young! Any advice? Anyone need someone to go along to help offset costs?!!

Hunted them in SD last year, for a decent price and if you went to the black hills it gets cheaper, send me a PM if you want some more info.

There's a number of public hunting areas up in the Panhandle of Nebraska that you might be able to do some good on for turkey. I'd start by looking at the Game and Parks Commission website:
http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/hunting/hunting.asp

They also have an interactive online atlas of public lands:
http://mapserver.ngpc.state.ne.us/website/gpc_land/viewer.htm

Non-resident turkey tags are very reasonably priced, and they removed the limits on the total number of permits issued. Each hunter can now get a maximum of two permits for each of the spring and fall season.

Merriam's are really good looking. Even nicer than the Rio Grande hybrids that I go chase around out in the central part of the state. Hope you have good luck wherever you hunt!
