Need CSI

Walking through the woods the other day I stumbled upon a dead buck. Nice 8pt, maybe a 150 class and pretty hefty too. Tossed him over and could not find any holes from an arrow or bullet. He was lying in a perfect circle of blood that is 15ft or so in diameter. Makes me think he was pumping blood pretty good before he dropped. Ended up finding a small puncture hole in the neck right above the white patch. Maybe an antler wound from a scuffle?

Critters had started chewing on the hind quarter a little bit so I set up a trail camera to see what shows up. I'll retrieve the pics in a week or two.

I would concider a 150" 8 as more than just nice. That's a pig! I would say small caliber rifle.

I knew some kid that would take a 22 out and just shoot deer for the heck of it. In or out of season they didn't care!

Found a 170+ last year with a small hole in the neck. DNR said it was probably a 45 cal muzzy but when we did a euro mount on it we found a 22 lodged in its brain.
