Re: need some info

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "It's probably not as good as SE iowa where your from"

I really don't have a clue how good it is up there.

But good luck up there.

Ditto what TallTines said. There a few Wisconsin boys on here, I'm sure they will throw out some info to you.

Re: need some info

i dunno where that's at exactly, what region or town are you moving to? tell me that and i can probably help you.

I went to the university of Wi at River Falls which is located in pierce co. I never hunted alot around there but there are definitely some good deer. The habitat tends to be alot of open country with small tracts of woods. That does vary from locale to locale though. It's not going to be as prime as SE iowa but i think you'll get into deer none the less. There isn't alot of public ground but i think the kinnickinnic and willow river state parks do annual bow hunts. That area is being developed at an alarming rate...too many minneapolis folks wanting to live in the country, so large tracts of unbroken land are far an few between. I'm sure that this isn't what you wanted to hear but i thought i should give you a heads up. You might want to check into hunting grounds south of you along the mississippi...probably your best bet to get into good bucks. Best of luck to ya

Pierce County is bluffland country along its western and southern portions and a mixture of woodlots and ag land in the northern portion of the county.

It is very similiar to NE Iowa.

It prodces booners annually, however its not the same quality hunt as Iowa.

The biggest challenge you face is going to be finding a place to hunt. Alot of urban sprawl from the Twin Cities and alot of family farms that only let relatives hunt.

On a side note it does have some of the best trout fishing in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
