Just a question,

My two brothers and I bow hunted this year in Iowa. 2 of 3 of us were successful, great hunting in Iowa by the way! We have exhausted our preference points so............

If we apply for a NR any-sex gun tag in 2008 and are unsuccessful.............but want to apply for an archery tag in 2009 will we have two preference points for the 2009 drawing? The question is does Iowa care if you apply for gun or archery and do you gain prefernce points regardless of the method chosen to get a license?

You will have one preference point from the 2008 for the 2009 drawing. Good luck.

If a non-res applys for a license and is successful but DOES NOT purchase a tag. Does that person lose their points?

When you apply for it, you pay for it at the same time. If you are drawn you loose your points, regardless whether you use it or not.
