regarding Deer numbers and Bowhunting


Didn't want to include shotgun hunters. Classic example on how bow hunters think they are better than shotgun hunters.

The Natural Resource Commission consists of seven citizens, appointed to six year terms by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. The Commission works with the Conservation and Recreation Division of the Department of Natural Resources. This division includes the bureaus of Engineering, Fisheries, Forestry, Land and Waters, Law Enforcement, State Parks, and Wildlife. Some of the substantive work of the Commission includes reviewing and approving hunting and fishing administrative rules, public land acquisitions and easements, construction and general business contracts, leases, grant programs, and annual budgets.

The commission meets monthly, generally the second Thursday, with a field tour occasionally scheduled in conjunction with the meeting. A time is scheduled at each meeting for members of the public to address the commission about any topic related to natural resource management. The meeting agenda will be published approximately a week before the meeting. For further information about meetings you may contact Kim Rasler at [email protected].

Maybe he doesn't shotgun hunt so he can't input on things he doesn't partake in.

You the example of the shotgun hunters who think they are better and believe bowhunters are trying to get rid of shotgunners..Way to judge before knowing what the factors are and reading the original letter. Typical shotgunner, bowhunters trying to help everyone and all you can do is complain.

Was that before or after mark drury and the Lindseys gave him the celebrity do not touch list for 2014? Sorry dallas and kyle. Your own governor wont let you do your job!!
 
In regard to the letter I sent to the Governor with contact e-mails for them, phone numbers for the wildlife chief, and meeting times and dates with the DNR commissioners, how many people that read this letter actually took the time to email or call any of these individuals and voice their opinions? How many plan to attend the meetings listed with the DNR commissioners?

It appears to me that many people on this site are more concerned about nonresident hunters or the best broadhead to use for deer. If action is not taken you won't have to worry about the proper broadhead to use. The bottom line is if something is not done about the low deer numbers you won't be needing broadheads or many of them.

My answer...the deer were here first. Be a defensive driver and take it down a notch while driving at night. I'd imagine most of the traffic deaths are from people who swerve to miss the deer and end up in a ditch with their vehicle flipping, not wearing seatbelt, etc. I do what I was told in driver's ed many, many years ago. If deer runs out in front of you, just hit them. Don't risk your life or another person's life by swerving.
 
I agree. Many more drivers killed by other drivers,,,but,,,somehow, that is tolerated more than injury by animals.

And the NRs will be a non-issue! Tracy is right. Iowa hunters need to let them know the deer herds are in trouble and you're not happy with how they are handling it!

They do not care how unhappy you are because at our highest numbers and only voting a very narrow single issue
you don't amount to a hill of beans! However, you are the hill of beans that pull the trigger on the deer! If you are going to put a massive effort into trying to change minds that are already made up, for what ever reason, put an equal effort into contacting fellow hunters to encourage them to let the does walk! This is one thing(among many)that we don't need the government to fix, or ruin for us. CALL A HUNTER, TEXT A HUNTER, EMAIL A HUNTER, WRITE A HUNTER!!!

I tried to send him a personal message but someone was thoughtful enough to disable his private messages. :D This is not just about bowhunting it's about DEER HUNTING for you guys that think you are being singled out. It's the same as with the state of our Country, it's not about Republicans or Democrats it's about Government intervention when it's not needed.

I looked them up on Linkedin and both David and Jeff's businesses are based in the greater Atlanta Georgia area.
 
I'd ask and hope each time someone makes a post here (which is great, fine) with a concern - they would also take about the equal amount of time (maybe a few extra minutes) to voice a concern to Governor & representatives. You will likely get the same form response but it DOES make a big difference. We've had a big history of them not hearing from us.

Im with you. They can put out as many doe tags as they want, and have as many doe seasons as they like, but we don't have to shoot them. We the hunters can make a big difference, if we unite.
