Planting millet for food plots....

My Dad is thinking on planting some millet in a food plot in a timber clearing for the turkeys. Has anyone had any experience with millet? I guess he went to buy seed the other day and there were tons of different kinds of millet. Does anyone know of any good brands? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are really nice descriptions of all the millets on www.advantageseed.com based on that information I planted the brown top variety last spring. I had very few plants germinate- I think I got them too deep when I covered the seed. Likely it was my problem- what did grow was eaten off before the seed heads matured but I don't know if the deer or turkeys got them.
